Good News

The LMBA Board has spent considerable time developing a plan for the 2008 registrations, player retention, and team placement.

Below you will find all of the information neccesssary to guide you through registering your child to play in the LMBA for 2008.

1. All registration dates are open to residents & non-residents that desire to play in the LMBA in 2008 (Jan 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th).
2. Non-residents must sign-up in person at a sign-up table.
3. LMBA will comply with the City of La Mirada's requirement to maintain 75% residency within the league.
4. There will be a maximum of 25% non-resident players allowed, per team, in the Pinto, Mustang, and Bronco divisions.
5. There will be no minimum number of non-residents required per team.
6. Tiny-T & Shetland will be 100% residents (with possible exceptions for siblings of other players accepted into the league; Requires Rules Committee approval).
7. Pony will be filled as necessary to field a manageable number of teams and serve the best interests of the league.

Non Resident Team placement priorities:

Returning Non-Residents & Non-Resident Farm Players:
*
   Returning non-resident players shall be defined as returning to the same team in the same division (junior player from previous season);
*   Non-resident farm players shall be defined as players who are moving up from same farm team in previous division.

1. Returning non-resident” players and non-resident farm players (combined pool) up to the allowable limit of 25% (limit of 3 for teams with 12 total players) must be kept on the roster and shall have priority over New non-resident freezes.
2. Teams with more than the allowable 25% limit for returning non-residents and non-resident farm players must return excess returning non-residents and / or non-resident farm players to the draft pool. This shall be done at the discretion of the Manager and before January 15th to allow the players the opportunity to seek other leagues to play in as they will likely not be placed due to overall residency requirements.
3. JANUARY 15 - Deadline for Managers to identify the non residents they plan to accept / maintain on their rosters.
    A.  Players to be accepted and kept on roster to be validated by Commissioner.
    B.  Players to be returned to draft pool to be contacted ASAP by Manager (Commissioner confirm) and notified of the likelihood that they will not be placed on a team in LMBA.
    C.  Changes to status of these players after the deadline to be addressed by the Rules Committee and will not be allowed to be manipulated for the benefit of the Manager.

New Non-Resident FreezesPlayers new to the league and being frozen to a team by the Manager.

1.  New non-resident freezes shall be allowed only if all returning non-residents and non-resident farm players have been accepted onto team and there is still room under the allowable limit.
2.  No returning non-residents or non-resident farm players shall be removed from a team or returned to the draft pool to make room for a new non-resident freeze.
Note: Provisions will be made for siblings of players already in the league and have been guaranteed a spot on a roster. This will be addressed on a case by case basis by the Rules Committee (including Player Agent) to find the best possible solution for 1.) the health of the league and,  2.) the interests of the family.

Non-residents are free to sign up at the sign-up tables at any open sign up event (January 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th). Non-residents shall pay by check or money order which will not be cashed until the player has been accepted into the league and placed on a team. As a non-resident you are now informed of the city requirement and the possibility that your child may not be placed on a team – even if they were on a team previously.

LMBA understands the residency requirements may be difficult for some to understand and unfortunately there isn't much the league can do beyond explaining the policy. If you have other questions you may want to direct them to the City of La Mirada.

All City meetings are open to the public, unless they are special sessions, and the agendas are posted throughout the city at least 72 hours prior to any meetings.

City Council Sessions are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at La Mirada City Hall; Community Services meetings are on the first Wednesday of the month; and La Mirada Athletic Council meetings are on the second Tuesday of each month.
